+ What is the difference between a nutritionist and dietitian?

Nutritionist: The term "nutritionist" is often unregulated, so it's essential to understand the qualifications. A Certified Nutritional Practitioner has a diploma and is trained to work one-on-one with clients, creating personalized meal plans tailored to individual lifestyles and goals. At NTF Health, our certified nutritional practitioners are regulated in Canada.

A Certified Nutritional Practioner is a regulated term and receives a diploma. We are trained to work one-on-one with clients, catering to each individual, perhaps creating a meal plan specific to his or her lifestyle and goals. As a result, he or she may effectively help you by taking a multi-faceted approach based on your food sensitivities, diet, needs, lifestyle, budget, etc.

In addition, there are a wide variety of nutritionists, each with a different designation and approach.

Dietitian A dietitian is a regulated health professional with a reputable degree, often working with policymakers and institutions, as well as in private practice. Registered Dietitians are accountable to provincial regulatory bodies.

Both registered nutritionists and dietitians can help you achieve your goals. It’s crucial to find the practitioner who best suits your specific needs.

+ What is holistic nutrition, and what do holistic nutritionists do?

Holistic Nutritionists take a comprehensive approach to health, considering various factors such as your medical history, family history, lifestyle habits, food preferences, allergies, and budget. We integrate all these elements to support your health.

+ Can I still eat out and drink alcohol while working with a nutritionist?

Absolutely! We believe in moderation. We encourage clients to enjoy meals out with friends and family while creating customized programs that fit your lifestyle. If you'd like to include alcohol, we'll adapt your plan accordingly.

However, it’s essential to be mindful of alcohol's effects on health, particularly brain health. Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to cognitive decline, impair memory, and affect mood and mental clarity. While moderate drinking can be part of a balanced lifestyle, it’s important to consider these potential impacts.

Adhering closely to your nutrition plan can help you achieve your health goals more effectively, which may involve reducing alcohol consumption. Our goal is to work with you to find a realistic balance that supports both your social life and overall health.

+ I’m not a good cook. Will I be able to make the recipes?

Definitely! We provide simple, quick recipes tailored to your lifestyle, requiring minimal ingredients and kitchen tools. Our goal is to make cooking enjoyable and efficient.

+ Are the recipes family-friendly?

Yes! We focus on family-friendly meals that everyone can enjoy. Our recipes are nutritious and easy to prepare, ensuring you won't have to cook separate meals for different family members.

+ Help! I need support! Who do I contact?

If you need support, reach out using our contact page.

We understand that emergencies can happen. For all 1-on-1 nutritional counseling appointments, we have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancellations made with less than 24 business hours' notice will incur an $80 cancellation fee. We appreciate your understanding.
